heya people!

i haven been updating my blog cos i was busy with school experience program for the last 2 weeks.

it is a compulsory thingy, so we cant say "No" to sacrificing 9days of our holidays (1 day was Youth Day, so no school) to report to the schools we were posted to.

my first week was at North Spring Primary, its somewhere in Sengkang, 4 stops away from my place. i was there with 3 other NIE schoolmates, and it was a lovely experience, the principal is nice (although i thought she looked really stern) our teacher-in-charge is so motherly and caring (she's like the nicest chinese teacher i've ever met), the teachers, school staff and canteen vendors are all very friendly people!!! lastly, the kids... they are so ADORABLE!

(if not for the sweaty smell that fills the classroom after they've attended PE lesson, they're perfect)
its like watching "kids say the darnest things" Live in every single lesson. i was seriously doing the silent ROTFL at the back of the class...

despite having to wake up at 5.30am each day, my mood was considerably good cos i love the people and the place. i really wouldn't mind going back again.

the 2nd week was at Bowen Secondary, and the experience was a little ... overwhelming. *eh hem* but i didn't hyperventilate then pass out (like i expected myself to in the worst case scenario) cos i've mentally prepared myself; that teenagers being teenagers with their raging hormones and all, feel that they are oppressed by the school system and thus will be more rebellious than pri sch children.

i HAD to do relief duty for a sec 3 express geography class and when i first looked at them, taking forever to settle down, that was when i knew i was looking at my NEMESES (plural form is only right) for this school experience. i was supposed to get them to do an essay question and that was all on the piece of paper. no further instructions. so i made up an empty threat

, to "scare" them into submitting the piece of work, by saying that attendance will be taken based on the submitted work. No submission = Absent.

i took quite awhile to get the instructions into their head. cos i had to use the silent stare to get them to keep quiet first, then followed by telling them what to do next, the most difficult part imo, was to amplify my voice loud enough for 40 students to hear me.

i realised the threat wasnt as effective as i thought it would be. i had to walk around the class a million times, to get the naughtier ones to stop doing whatever they're not supposed to be doing, or those who are simply not doing the work (sleeping, talking etc.), write something on a piece of foolscap to submit to me.

after the worst nemesis has settled down and managed to convince himself to write a few lines for me. i finally heaved a sigh of relief... i survived my 1st proper relief lesson.

no pictures of Bowen though, too busy, too stressed and most of all, i dont wanna be a laughing stock infront of teenagers.

overall, sch experience was fun, most imptly i got to see things from a teacher's perspective and made many new friends. "molding the future of our nation" doesnt seem so bad afterall...
